Software Developer in Test

Location: Dublin, Ireland

The Irish branch of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) R&D team is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test with a proven track record in bringing consumer products to market at high quality. Solid experience and deep passion for product quality and product testing is a must have. A strong testing and coding skills are critical to the role. The successful candidate must also have excellent communication skills and ideally a track record of working in an international multi-site engineering environment.

As a successful candidate, you will own critical parts of the test strategy and execution for IEB next generation of television products. Ownership will be demonstrated through vision, leadership as well as technical execution and coding. As a development engineer in test, your role is to design testing strategies, plan and develop the associated tools, execute, analyze and ultimately drive the product quality upwards. Your experience in testing consumer products will play a critical role in analyzing bug patterns and devising test plans that best fit the product scope and business goals.

You will collaborate with different teams and disciplines on broader test initiatives as part of the IEB TV business. You will need to demonstrate technical strength in both coding and testing skills locally within the Irish team and globally as part of the broader IEB organization. Abilities in identifying new testing processes and approaches as well as being an influential team player are key to the role.

Required experience and qualifications:

• A Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience
• 3+ years of experience in software design and development in C++ and/or C# programming
• 3+ years in test design, test automation, component/integration testing, test harnesses, test automation infrastructure and tools development.
• Passion for Quality
• Proven test track record in a test role shipping commercial products.
• Deep knowledge and proven experience of software testing methodologies for security testing, performance profiling, component/integration testing, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent influential skills.
• Solid experience in working across disciplines and geographical borders.
• Ability to work independently and self-driven and self-organized individual.

Preferred experience and qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience in internet technologies and protocols.
• Knowledge and experience in Digital Broadcast Television standards.
• Knowledge and experience in A/V streaming standards.
• Knowledge in digital rights management technologies.
