Database Administrator

Following the expansion of the Technical Department, we are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. Your primary focus will be backing up, monitoring, updating, tuning, and automating our databases. You will also work with our database engineer to improve the architecture of our applications, as well as design and implement future production systems. Your work will be essential to the quality and performance of our global high-traffic websites.

The core tasks and responsibilities of this role include:

• Performing and automating daily tasks;
• Supporting our release engineers and developers in applying schema changes;
• Ensuring business continuity;
• Setting up new database
• servers/clusters and improving the existing ones; and
• Proactively solving problems, and suggesting process and project improvements.

Functie-eisen:

• HBO/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of experience in web development or systems engineering with MySQL
• At least 2 years of experience with GNU/Linux
• Experience in setting up and automating database systems/clusters
• Experience with database (change) management and data management
• Experience with high availability and database tuning
• Experience in scripting/programming (Bash, Python, Perl, or PHP)
• Experience with MySQL and willingness to acquire in-depth knowledge 
• Innovative thinker and problem-solver
• Experience defining KPIs in order to profile back-end systems, or the willingness to learn
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Valid European work permit
