This position is responsible primarily for the Windows environment for Power Packer Europa. In addition, this person will act as a member of the global Actuant IT Team in defining and supporting the global Windows environment. In this position he or she will work with a team of administrators responsible for a heterogeneous global computing environment. In general, this person is responsible for the design, configuration and management of Microsoft Windows servers, including Windows Domains, AD Infrastructure, Exchange 2007, Microsoft MSSQL Server 2005/2008, Microsoft SCCM, SCOM, Citrix Servers, VMware and various 3rd party Wintel based applications. This person is also responsible for designing and implementing a migration strategy from legacy networks to a Windows/Active Directory based File and Print infrastructure. Other responsibilities include planning, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of server systems as well as making recommendations for improvements/upgrades. The individual will provide escalation support for unresolved Help Desk issues and provide technical consultation to project managers. The individual will take a lead role in developing, designing, testing, and implementing plans and procedures to protect and continue information systems operations related to network servers in case of a disaster. The individual must be able to maintain relationships/work with vendors or consultants on projects and technical support issues and with internal Actuant members with little supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and refine an existing strategy to migrate Actuant sites from legacy File and Print infrastructure to a Microsoft Windows and Active Directory based File and Print Server to support site integrations and acquisitions on a global basis.
- Assume a key role of being a Global product specialist in Microsoft and other Wintel based technologies.
- Implement corporate strategy to migrate current Windows 2003 based File and Print infrastructure to a Microsoft Windows and Active Directory 2008 based File and Print Server.
- Operationally support Microsoft Exchange 2007, Microsoft SCCM 2007, VMware, etc. in the Power Packer Global environment.
- Provide support for multiple Actuant business units’ end users and systems from PPE Oldenzaal. These systems include Microsoft File and Print, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2007, Microsoft SCCM/SCOM 2007, VMware, Citrix and various 3rd party applications.
- Configure and install new servers and operating systems in support of internal projects and user requests.
- Responsible for general Windows server system management, security management and status monitoring.
- Troubleshoot server hardware, software and connectivity issues; provide problem management and ownership.
- Perform installation and configuration of Windows servers and other application server hardware and software as needed by PPE Global.
- Provide PC and file server technical support for non-standard software products required by the business or one of its departments.
- Responsible for design, implementation and operations of technologies like VMware, Citrix, Symantec end point security, web filtering, email filtering and email archival environment.
- Document server processes, enforce corporate policies and procedures suggesting revisions or additions as appropriate. Provide change, configuration and release management documentation for the production environment to maintain compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Test operating systems, software and hardware in support of business needs to evaluate ease of use, appropriate functionality and integration into our environment.
- Performance tuning and analysis.
- Document the application installation, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to support applications running on the Intel server environment.
- Provide input to the global infrastructure strategy.
- Provide end-user support for infrastructure services when escalated from the Help Desk. This includes attending and addressing open Help Desk tickets both on the basis of volume and complexity.
- Function as a key resource within the global team of administrators responsible for UNIX, Windows, VMware, LAN/WAN, Voice, Security and Database services.
- Work with current staff locally and internationally to learn different technologies including Cisco networking, Checkpoint firewall etc. and act as an EMEA IT regional backup person in these technologies.

Required Capabilities:
- The ideal candidate will possess 6 plus years of experience performing Windows server configuration, administration and network/computer end-user training. Must have demonstrated ownership of all aspects of running a Microsoft Network environment. MSCE certification preferred.
- Experience in migrating from legacy platforms to Active Directory based Windows file and print infrastructure.
- Strong experience in VMware virtual hardware setups and management.
- Strong experience supporting SQL Server, Windows NT/2000/2003/2008 Server, extensive Active Directory experience with scripting skills.
- Strong experience in designing, implementing and operationally managing Microsoft technologies like Windows 2003/2008 Server, SCCM (including creating MSI packages, publishing them and deploying to clients), SCOM, Active Directory and Exchange 2007/2010 in a global environment. .
- Strong experience in designing, implementing and operationally managing technologies like VMware, Citrix, Symantec end point security, Symantec Netbackup/Backup Exec, web filtering, email filtering and email archival environment.
- Good understanding of common Windows desktop platforms including Windows XP, Vista and Windows7.
- Strong experience in designing, testing and creating Disaster Recovery documentation and performing testing for the Intel server platform.
- Must be able to evaluate technologies, develop strategies and deliver presentations to IT management and peers.
- Technical and functional documentation skills are essential.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical, support, and business staff at all levels.
- Self-starter; able to manage multiple tasks efficiently for on-time delivery.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.

- Sound working knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies and architecture. Cisco experience is desirable.

Desired Background and Experience (include education and experience required):
- Must have 6 plus years of senior level experience designing, implementing and operationally maintaining Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 servers, Microsoft Exchange and Citrix environments.
- Must have at least 3 plus years of senior level experience designing, implementing and operationally maintaining VMware environment.
